Brief silence — WITHOUT taking breath

Sakt = a short, intentional silence at a specific spot in the verse, WITHOUT taking a breath. It is shorter than a true stop (Waqf) and the reader continues immediately after. The sign in the Mushaf is the small letter ‘س’ (or ‘سكتة’).
